Electric Cylinder Lawnmowers.

For top quality finish, electric cylinder lawnmowers offer the best option.

A cylinder electric lawn mower utilises two different types of blade and is designed to cut grass in a different way to a rotary mower.

Part of the appeal of using an electric cylinder lawnmower is the striped effect they create; this is down to the rollers which all cylinder mowers have.

The blades on an electric cylinder mower are mounted on a cylindrical drum (often referred to as a cassette). As the cassette rotates, the blades come into contact with a fixed bottom blade (the bed knife). This system cuts the grass in a scissor action and produces an exceptionally fine finish on well maintained lawns.

Bear in mind that a cylinder mower will not make a rough, badly constructed lawn look fantastic - the lawn needs to be decent to start with.

Is an electric cylinder mower right for you?

If your lawn has bumps and dips, don’t waste your time with a cylinder mower. Go for a electric rotary lawn mower instead. Cylinder mowers have no wheels (just a roller or two) so mowing becomes difficult and impractical on anything but a reasonably flat surface. Also, longer grass is best tackled with a rotary electric lawnmower.

If you are looking to achieve the highest possible finish on your lawn, then an electric (or petrol) cylinder lawnmower is the wisest choice.

Quality of finish is the main advantage of an electric cylinder mower over rotary lawnmowers. The way in which the blades cut the grass allow for a shorter lawn without pulling the grass from the soil. Also, unlike a rotary mower which will tear through the grass, a cylinder mower cuts cleanly and produces much finer clippings.

Lawn mower cutting width.

The larger your lawn, the larger the cutting width (and more powerful machine) required. Most electric cylinder lawnmowers have a cutting width of around 30-32 cm. For a wider cutting width, you will need a petrol cylinder mower.

Many electric cylinder lawnmowers give you the option of replacing the cutting blade cassette with a scarifying cassette which is used to remove thatch and other debris from your lawn during the autumn. Scarifying is an essential aspect of lawn care and helps promote healthy, vigorous growth.
